Volvo of Bonita Springs XC90 Hybrid Debut
In dramatic fashion, Volvo has shown the future of the brand by debuting the XC90. The hybrid, three-row crossover comes with a decidedly Swedish flavor that includes an understated elegant nature that is free of the look-at-me element thrown around by other brands. According to the automaker, the vehicle was created for the well-being of occupants above all, which it accomplishes by providing a highly luxurious and calming interior, coupled with a confidence-inspiring driving experience that is perfect for getting around the Ft. Meyers, Florida area.
The exterior of the all-new XC90 exudes power and ability at every angle. The characteristically Scandinavian design makes it stand out on the road without being overly flashy. For example, the LED daytime running lights break apart from the expected and are arranged in a shape that mimics Thors legendary hammer. The design not only looks great, it also makes for excellent illumination no matter where you go. The taillights also have a unique design that is vertical instead of horizontal, making the vehicle more visible to other drivers in poor conditions and at night. The XC90 can be outfitted with a variety of wheels that can measure up to 22 inches, making for a powerful stance to match the look of the rest of the exterior.
One of the most revolutionary elements of the vehicle is its hybrid powertrain, called Drive-E. The T5 engine is available, as is the T6 with 316 horsepower, and a T8 Twin Engine plug-in setup that puts out about 400 horsepower. No matter which option you go with, there is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine that is turbocharged and works with an eight-speed Geartronic automatic transmission. The Twin Engine plug-in option comes with different drive modes, including the ability to travel in the city only using electricity. There is also an Off Road mode that allows for crawling over rough areas at a speed of up to 24 mph. Another exclusive feature of Twin Engine models is a gear selector that is made of Orrefors crystal glass that refracts light in a variety of colors.
Inside the all-new XC90, occupants are greeted by a clean interior design that is complimented by top-notch materials and construction. Among these are flame birch wood veneers, fine Nappa leather upholstery, and diamond-cut controls. Everything is put together using the finest level of craftsmanship, providing a feeling of incredibly quality throughout. As Volvo customers have come to expect, the seats are contoured and cushioned in a way that makes any trip incredibly comfortable, while taking up less space than before. As a result, there's more legroom in the second and third rows that make everyone happier. The second-row seats can recline and be folded down, while the third-row seats fold down at the touch of a button.
Technology is very much front-and-center in the vehicle, but without making operating it a burden. Volvo worked hard to create systems that are intuitive for everyone to use. Central in the setup is a Sensus infotainment touchscreen that allows the driver or front passenger to easily change environmental settings, use the navigation, or make sound system selections. The climate control system is the most advanced Volvo has ever made, and even includes a sensor that automatically switches to inside air when pollution levels reach a certain level. It also features a separate AC unit for the third row, helping ensure everyone is comfortable all the time.
Everyone can appreciate the new Bowers & Wilkins Premium Sound system that provides a true HD listening experience, making any music sound infinitely better. The setup was integrated into the very design of the XC90's interior, with the 19 speakers positioned in the best spots for ultimate clarity on all three rows of seating. One of the unique features of the system is an opening in the vehicle's wheel arch that sends outside air to the subwoofer, making for lower bass tones and an improved listening experience.
